Program Title: Donation Transportation Assistance

Program Description: We are looking for volunteers to assist us with the transport of in-kind donations between our offices. Given
the location of the food pantry at our DC office and the diaper bank at our MD office, we would love for volunteers to help us transport these in-kind donations from one office to the other on a regular basis. We will also need assistance transporting in-kind donations between all three of our offices, especially during seasonal campaigns like our back-to-school supply drive or our winter holiday drives. This assistance allows our clients to receive the full benefit of our social services with much greater ease and convenience. 

A valid driver's license and access to a personal vehicle will be required of all volunteers for these opportunities.

Jobs Offered: We typically need support on a regular basis with the following jobs/opportunities to help with transport between offices

• DC - MD Office Donation Transportation (Grocery Bags + Seasonal Campaign Items)
• DC - VA Office Donation Transportation (Seasonal Campaign Items)
• MD - DC Office Donation Transportation Assistance (Diapers & WIC Products)

Opportunity Requirements:  

• We don’t have many requirements for this opportunity other than access to a personal vehicle with a valid driver's license
• While not required, we do prefer if assisting volunteers are able to lift and carry boxes up to 10 - 20 lbs

Commitment: 

• We are in need of transportation assistance at least once a month from our DC to MD office to provide grocery bags and MD to DC office to provide diapers/WIC products.
• Assistance would be preferred during business hours but can be done in early evenings after the workday ends to more easily accommodate individual's schedules (no later than 6 PM pickup)
• We will also need additional transportation assistance during our seasonal campaigns from our administrative office in DC to our offices in Silver Spring, MD and Fairfax, VA
• Specific times will be finalized with our Volunteer Coordinator as needed upon signing up for days assistance with transport is requested

Technology Needed: 

• Personal vehicle
• Mobile cellular device (to coordinate arrival and drop off with staff at both offices)
