Group Volunteering (In Office)

Program Title: Group Food Pantry Support 

Program Description: We are looking for volunteers to assist us with the support and maintenance of our ongoing food pantry at our DC office. Through a partnership with the Capital Area Food Bank, we regularly receive and distribute food staples to our clients facing food insecurity. Last year, we were able to provide the families we assist with over 17,000 pounds of food and hope to surpass that quantity this year with your help! 

Department/Individuals Assisting: Ayuda’s Social Services Team 

Responsible to: Our Volunteer Coordinator, Connor Paul

Volunteer Capacity: These opportunities are best to accommodate 5 – 15 individuals with a hard cap at 20 individuals

Responsibilities:

• Packaging of our grocery bags for pickup and/or delivery to our clients 
• Organizing both the delivered food staples as well as existing inventory in our pantry 
• Restocking our pantry shelves with boxed inventory
• Breaking down unpacked cardboard boxes and help transporting to building recycling bin
• Packing of snack bags that we provide to our clients and the new arrivals being bused from US-Mexico border
• Inventorying of snack and grocery bag items for future packaging 

Opportunity Requirements:  

• We don’t have many requirements for this opportunity other than coming to our office in downtown DC, being a team player, and bringing positivity and enthusiasm to help!  
• While not required, we do prefer if assisting volunteers are able to lift and carry boxes/bags up to 10 - 20 lbs.
